The Promise Harvest secures sustainable food production in Africa

The Power of Compassion Transforms Lives.

African Promise Village is a U.S. registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that operates to support and empower marginalized communities in the Simanjiro District of Tanzania, East Africa.

Our Mission

Raising awareness about the charity's mission is key. We improve children's lives through education, clean water, nutrition, and essential healthcare.

Our Vision

Making Donations helps us realize our vision: To see every child rise from poverty to become a confident, educated leader who transforms their community.

Why Tanzania?

The Maasai tribe is one of the most marginalized populations in all of Africa. The communities often live in extreme poverty, facing severe challenges that directly undermine human potential.

This lack of resources negatively impacts every aspect of wellbeing, from basic food security to critical medical care. By focusing on holistic support, especially high-quality education at the Promise Village Academy, APV is actively working to ensure the children rise above these obstacles to become empowered, healthy, and successful leaders.

The Lessons We've Learned

We learned first-hand that long-term scholarship funds are more sustainable and impactful than individual sponsorship. Early in our work, sponsoring select students created a damaging hierarchy and a sense of dependency within the community. In response, APV established comprehensive Graduate Scholarship Funds that benefit all deserving students upon graduation, fostering true equality and motivation across the entire student body.

We discovered that freely distributing consumable items like donated clothes or basic electronics unintentionally created a cycle of dependency and a lack of ownership. Instead, African Promise Village focuses its resources entirely on support that has a lasting impact: education, clean water infrastructure, and long-term medical solutions. We invest only in tools and resources that support the community’s mission toward self-sufficiency.

We humbly admit that some early Western-style efforts failed because they did not fully take into account the unique needs and culture of the Maasai. In response, our goals, projects, and ideals now start and end with the community. We ensure our support—from the curriculum at Promise Village Academy to securing the right medical treatment—is tailored to the specific context of the Simanjiro District, guaranteeing our efforts deliver maximum, sustainable transformation.

Yes. You may dedicate your gift, but we encourage unrestricted giving to help us allocate funds where the need is most urgent (like student scholarships or medical support).

We organize mission trips for supporters. Please visit our contact page or email us to discuss volunteer opportunities.

While we do not offer one-to-one child sponsorship to ensure all students receive equal support, you can donate to a specific program, such as the Graduate Scholarship Fund or the Critical Medical Care Fund, knowing your gift supports a named need.

Any funds raised beyond a specific goal are allocated to the most critical and urgent needs of the Academy, such as ensuring our ongoing clean water supply or providing comprehensive care for our seven additional OVC students entering higher education.

We generally accept donations of cash and marketable securities to maintain administrative efficiency. Due to high shipping costs and import duties in Tanzania, all offers for in-kind goods (like clothing or supplies) must be reviewed by the board prior to acceptance.

We welcome corporate engagement! We offer structured Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) opportunities ranging from funding a specific project (like a water well) to providing long-term support for our academy. Please contact Jay Mehta, our Marketing Manager, to discuss tailored partnership opportunities.
